booth brothers history

Ron Booth sr., ronnie and michael booth’s father, immersed his sons in Southern gospel music during the time he sang with the rebel’s quartet, as well as other musical groups. together, they sang as ‘Ron Booth and the booth brothers’ until 1998, when ron sr. left the road. ronnie and michael renamed the group and continued on as the booth brothers. adding Joseph Smith as the baritone, the trio recorded several projects including walkin’ on the good side and this stage of grace which featured songs that would become staples within the booth catalog such as ‘castles in the sand’ and ‘still feeling fine.’

in 2002, Jim Brady joined the group and the booth brothers solidified their place within gospel music with chart topping songs like ‘the river keeps a-rollin,’ ‘look for me at jesus’ feet,’ and perhaps their best known release, ‘he saw it all.’ in the years that followed, the booth brothers continued to rise to the top: becoming a fixture on gaither homecoming videos and tours, a crowd favorite at the national quartet convention and bringing home countless accolades including grammy nominations, dove awards, and singing news fan awards.

in 2014, Jim Brady announced that he would be leaving the group in order to pursue a ministry with his wife, melissa. the booth brothers fill the vacancy with paul lancaster, who’s powerful vocals quickly became beloved by audiences across the country. the group continued to push musical boundaries, keeping true to their roots while also exploring various styles, including the release of the country roads project, honoring inspirational country favorites that brought back memories of the past.

moving into 2021 brought more change for the group. after more than three decades of touring, Ronnie Booth announced he would be leaving the road to enjoy his family and grandchildren. shortly thereafter, Paul Lancaster, who had recently suffered the loss of his beloved wife as well as his brother, announced that he would be leaving to focus on his family. amid what could have been a devastating season of change for the legendary trio, god brought new talent into the fold, while also orchestrating the return of a familiar face. Gaither Vocal band alum, buddy mullins, stepped in to fill ronnie’s position. his dynamic deliveries and incredible guitar instrumentations brought a new spark to the group that has quickly won over long time and new booth brothers fans alike. Jim Brady made his return in 2022, while still continuing to travel as part of jim & Melissa Brady. together, michael, buddy and jim forge forward to deliver the trademark booth brother harmonies, timely, christ honoring lyrics, and powerful presentations of the gospel night after night.
