There was something very telling in her reminder. Tomorrow IS another big day among many other big days that just went by. There were all the various Christmas activities we did with the kids at school and church as well as the shopping days and other things we do this time of year. And now, here I sit on Christmas Eve. Instead of feeling like I should be wrapping a present or planning some activity, I really feel the urge to just dwell on the wonder of our Savior’s birth and what that really means to us as Christians. I almost feel ashamed to think that I’ve waited until now to just pause and meditate on the greatest gift ever given. This new beginning that God gave us through His son reminds me of the New Year we celebrate in a few days when we also start thinking about making resolutions for the 2007. I got to thinking – what if, instead of making resolutions, we started a REVOLUTION! Yes, a New Year’s REVOLUTION. Now, that sounds kind of crazy and radical, but here‘s what I mean. Resolutions are usually somewhat trivial and not really important in the grand scheme of things. Lose 10 pounds, walk a mile a day, stop going to Greater Vision concerts, etc. Revolutions, on the other hand, are radical, out-of-the-box thinking that can bring about real change. Some of us need revolution thinking just to get through life. The man who just lost a job and doesn’t know where to turn, the wife whose husband left her for another woman, the mother who weeps for a wayward child, the wife whose husband faces danger everyday in Iraq, etc. So many folks around us need to live out their lives in radical ways just to get through each day. And that, my friend, gives us the secret to winning a life revolution. Live your life day by day. When Ronnie and I were growing up, we lived in an area that didn’t have any gospel radio. Our Dad sang gospel on the road, but if we wanted to listen to music on the radio, it had to be secular or nothing at all. One of the groups we enjoyed listening to was the Eagles (you probably hear a lot of their influence in our group). The main guitar player of the Eagles was a guy named Joe Walsh. Back then, he was known as the wild guy of the group. He says now that he only got drunk once – it just lasted for 23 years. Anyway, Joe finally got help and made some big changes in his life (yes, a revolution). Within the last few years, he wrote a song that the Eagles now perform regularly called “One Day At a Time”. Look at the words of the last verse: Well I finally got around to admit that I was the problem, This speaks volumes of what I mean by a revolution. If you’re out there struggling with a problem different from Joe’s, but one that is still making life miserable for you. Let me encourage you to think about revolution, where the main battle plan is to take one day at a time with God alongside of you. So many people that come to our concerts are hurting because of a wide variety of reasons. I remember a great old hymn that’s entitled “Day by Day” that speaks about God power that is available to us day by day. Here’s what the first of this song says: Verse 1 The message is clear. God doesn’t expect us to tackle big challenges in our lives all at one time. Just do it one day at a time with His power and you too will have a REVOLUTION! IN CLOSING...to share with you a little bit of our Christmas celebration, we've put some pictures below of some the family members we were able to spend time with. BUT, here's the best part. Get this - Ronnie asked his new wife for an Evel Knievel Dare Devil jump set and...you guessed it...she bought it for him. We took some pictures of him enjoying it a little too much, especially the part where he tried to jumped it over my head! Click below to see my brother having a little too much fun! There's also some pictures of Jim and his wife Melissa during their Christmas break trip to New York. Click Here to see Ronnie's favorite gift and pictures from Jim and Melissa's trip to New York
